BACKGROUND
RJR GLEANER GROUP, the leading electronic broadcast conglomerate of Jamaica, wanted their content to reach Jamaican expats abroad and to offer an HD broadcast solution to the local market. 1Spotmedia, RJR Communication Group’s Internet Media Service, teamed up with UNIV in order to deliver any type of content under any type of commerce, while utilizing a wide range of marketing tools. With UNIV, 1Spotmedia became the go-to platform to consume content from all across the Carribean, delivering premium content to hundreds of thousands of users.
CHALLENGE
In order to broadcast all around the Carribean, 1Spotmedia had to provide a solution that would be compatible with any bandwidth, which varies greatly across the different islands. They also needed adaptability to different commercial terms and broadcasting rights depending on the user’s location or selected subscription.
SOLUTION
UNIV provided 1Spotmedia with an all-in-one solution, delivering an immersive set of tools that allows them to broadcast any content - linear and VOD - under any type of commerce - subscription, PPV, transactional, and ad-supported. UNIV’s advanced video processing allows users to watch videos regardless of bandwidth all across the Carribean. Moreover, UNIV’s content replacement mechanism allows RJR to broadcast internationally by maintaining the broadcasting rights of the solution.
RESULT
1Spotmedia became the preferred platform for hundreds of thousands of users across the Carribean, with additional broadcasters partnering to benefit from the platform’s wide reach. Our solution provided RJR with increased ad revenues due to greater reach, while adding revenue from new commerce mechanisms, such as subscriptions and PPV. In addition, with UNIV’s unique marketing tools, such as awarding Gift Cards, RJR was able to enhance communication between local Caribbeans and expats.
Covid19 Impact: In response to needs resulting from the Pandemic, 1Spotmedia has utilized UNIV solutions in order to distribute 3 new channels for E-learning, and has also added VOD content available online for 2 Universities.
ENGINE MEDIA
BACKGROUND
Engine Media Holdings, Inc. (TSX-V: GAME), a multi-platform media company focused on esports, were in need of complex video processing technology and dynamic ad-insertion solutions. UNIV delivered an all-in-one platform that combined its V2 line of products for high end video processing as well as Server-Side Dynamic Ad Insertion (SSAI) in order to optimize streaming video revenue.
CHALLENGE
The US company has a wide range of channels, broadcasting across leaders in the US, such as HBO and CNN. They therefore required an efficient solution that covers all possible needs for such a large holding company with many subsidiaries, from technology to marketing, all under one roof.
SOLUTION
Engine Media utilized UNIV’s unique capability of dynamic ad-insertion based on different ad-break recognition methods. Our technology further enables the company to display ads based on the interests of individual consumers, delivering them in a non-disruptive way. In addition and all within the same platform, UNIV delivered products for complex video processing, providing Engine Media with complete syndication, publication, and online editing solutions.
RESULT
UNIV’s distinctive algorithm and tailor-made platform development provided Engine Media with better performance and higher efficiency than previous providers. Moreover, the company was able to increase revenues by inserting programmatic ads and replacing the traditional ads in the broadcast linear channels.
IPFL - ISRAEL PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE
BACKGROUND
IPFL is interested in creating a direct-to-consumer stream, pioneering exclusively with OTT, for the Israeli Football Primary League. To meet the IPFL’s wide range of demands for its premium content platform, UNIV created a custom-made solution that provides smoothly served coverage and an individualized experience across massive audiences.

BACKGROUND
Tucancha was in need of a flexible and versatile platform to broadcast amateur sports in Ecuador, available to both the local market and expats. UNIV was able to provide a tailor-made solution to improve content availability and provide a wide array of payment solutions to fit each user’s needs.
CHALLENGE
Because credit card use is limited in Latin America, Tucancha was in need of a platform that could integrate multiple payment solutions includind salening its products in local sales points. . Moreover, due to varying bandwidth across Latin America, the broadcaster required a flexible solution to allow any sports fan to connect.
SOLUTION
UNIV created an end-to-end customized solution that most importantly built an infrastructure that allows for virtual wallet payments, helping Tucancha integrate a prepaid point-of-sale system, which allowed them to easily charge both subscription and PPV within Ecuador and abroad. In addition, our flexible video processing technology allows any user to connect locally and internationally regardless of their available bandwidth.

BACKGROUND
Aristegui Noticias, one of the most popular programs in Mexico and Latin America, were in long search of a solution that can provide a high level of distribution to cater to its over 45 million viewers a month. With UNIV, the broadcaster found a one-stop-shop solution that takes care of all of their technical and financial needs in a single easy-to-use platform.
